The acceptance of interracial dating has gained a lot of ground in recent years — But it still doesn’t mean that it’s going to be a smooth ride. There are a some important things that you need to know if you want your interracial (IR) dating experience to be successful, and hopefully, produce a stable and lasting relationship.
1: Bridge Cultural Differences
If you want to get past the first date, it is very important that you have an understanding of your date’s culture. Our date coaches will offer suggestions on how you can get to know more about your dates culture without offending, but impressing.
2: Tackle Racists and Racism Properly
Let’s face it, racism still exists. Knowing how to respectfully handle racist comments is an absolute must. Although you’re open to meeting, accepting and dating outside of your race, those in your circle may not be. Our date coaches will help you learn how to tactfully address these type of people (especially if it happens in the presence of your date).
3: Identify Your Own Preconceptions
You may not realize it, but there are probably some deep rooted stereotypes in your psyche. Our date coaches will work with you, (without judgement) to help you uncover and address any misconceptions you may have about another race before it’s too late.
- Be confident in who you are.
- Don’t adopt stereotypical behaviors.
- Only date someone for who, and not what, they are.
